With the war in Ukraine in its second week, comes the news of a $2.5 million equivalent crypto donation by Binance Charity to UNICEF.
This donation comes as a part of a $10 million equivalent donation by Binance Charity. The proceeds will go towards life-saving work for children and their families in Ukraine and in hosting countries.
UNICEF’S efforts for children and their families currently include:
- Providing safe water, healthcare, education, and protection.
- Prepositioning health, hygiene, and emergency education supplies as close as possible to communities near the line of contact.
- Working with municipalities to ensure that there is immediate help for children and families in need.
- Supporting mobile teams providing child protection services and psychosocial care to children traumatised by the chronic insecurity.
CZ, Founder and CEO of Binance says,” We’re grateful for our ongoing collaboration with UNICEF, which with the support of the Binance community, provides emergency relief to help ease some of the suffering these children and their families are facing.”
Binance Charity, as claimed by its Twitter bio, is the ‘first non-profit to enable 100% transparent charitable giving’, stands true to its words, as all donations and allocations are visible on its website along with transaction details.
This is not the first collaboration between Binance Charity and UNICEF, with Binance having donated in response to the 2020 Beirut Explosion and the COVID-19 Vaccination Relief.
The total amount donated in crypto to Ukraine has crossed $83.5 million, with almost half of it donated directly to the Ukrainian government and the rest coming through several initiatives such as the UkraineDAO.
