The Godfather of DeFi, Andre Cronje is leaving crypto space along with his partner Anton Nell after their exceptional contribution towards the crypto world with new innovations and developments.
On Sunday, Anton Nell officially revealed in a tweet that the pair is taking an exit from DeFi sectors. The pair is going to terminate 25 apps and services by April 3, 2022.
Nell wrote in the tweet, “Andre and I have decided that we are closing the chapter of contributing to the defi/crypto space,” and added that “a decision that has been coming for a while now.”
Andre Cronje came in the spotlight for his development of a yield optimization protocol ‘Yearn finance’. While Anton Nell got popular in the DeFi space through the Fantom ecosystem.
He also revealed that the pair will be taking off the websites they have built to engage with different projects and innovations.
However, the news of Cronje moving on is not sudden. Last week, he deleted his Twitter account and made changes to his Linkedin profile that shows his termination from Yearn.Finance, Fantom, and the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
He also confirmed his resignation with the Keep3r Network community.
The applications or websites that will be discontinued by Cronje and Nell include yearn.fi, keep3r.network, multichain.xyz, chainlist.org, solidly.exchange, and bribe.crv.finance. The protocols built by this pair would continue to run on the blockchain as long as it doesn’t require Cronje or Nell’s approval.
To ease final settlement with the projects, they will transfer or decommission domains and web apps before “moving away from defi/crypto.” Cronje also indicated that the pair would come back to the traditional financial sectors again.
Cronje also gained popularity after bringing the ‘DeFi Summer’ YFI token over a period of crypto through the successful rollout of Yearn.Finance. After that, he went for new innovations on the Ethereum blockchains and other EVM-compatible blockchains.
