Pizza take-out chain Papa John’s International Inc. drops its first collection of cool and collectible NFTs as part of the metaverse’s biggest global NFT giveaway.
In Brief:
- Being part of the marketing campaign to promote its new Cheddar range, the NFTs are dropping on several dates in March.
- Papa John’s “Hot Bags” are energy efficient – minted on Tezos blockchain.
- 19,840 NFTs are available for free, to celebrate the founding year 1984 of the company.
Papa John’s plans to delight customers with free NFTs, allowing pizza fans worldwide to take part in the global NFT craze as well as the must-have metaverse-fashion accessory.
The NFT release is part of Papa Johns’ Papa X Cheddar marketing campaign, which is promoting its new Cheddar range – launching in several international markets, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Spain, Ecuador, and El Salvador.
The company’s collection of 19,840 NFTs dropping nine bag designs inspired by the pizza delivery hot bag on several dates throughout early March – is to commemorate the date Papa John’s was founded in 1984.
The Papa John’s NFT “Hot Bags” were minted on Tezos, an energy-efficient blockchain, so the NFTs are also energy-efficient.
The NFT “Hot Bags” were designed by professional NFT designer Tom Hoff, based in Spain, and artist Ash Sketch from London’s Central Saint Martins, who both took inspiration from the delivery driver hot bag and Atomic and Highlight’s 2021 Papa X Cheddar campaign.
This amusing collaboration elevated one of the world’s favorite cheeses, Cheddar, to fashion status with its own streetwear collection.
Not just a free NFT but a lucky winner will receive a legit “Papa 1984” yellow bag designed by Ash Sketch. The team will choose one NFT “Hot Bags” owner and deposit a winning ticket into their cryptocurrency wallet – to be announced on April 14.
This isn’t Papa John’s first foray into the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. The company’s website and Twitter page had put up an ad stating, “free Bitcoin worth £10,” was banned by UK Advertising Watchdog because it was deemed “irresponsible.”
Papa John’s NFT partner Tezos recently also partnered with Manchester United as the team’s official blockchain partner.
