As the sports industry and cryptocurrency sector continue to engage on a frequent basis these days, Nashville SC went a step ahead to become the first Major Soccer League team to accept a sponsorship fee in Bitcoin.
The revelation comes out as Nashville announced Valkyrie investments as its founding partner who is offering the fee in the form of Bitcoin.
Dan Farrell, Vice President of Corporate Partnerships with Nashville SC, stated “As a club we want to be pioneers both on and off the pitch while also being Authentically Nashville. Partnering with Valkyrie provides both a local tie and a platform to connect sports and entertainment to cryptocurrency in the hottest city in the United States.”
The Premier Club, an 850-seat premium club at Nashville SC’s new stadium, will be named the Valkyrie Premier Club as part of this deal.
Additionally, the Valkyrie logo will also be placed on the team’s training top’s sleeve. The amount of the deal and other details however were not revealed by Nashville SC.
“Our industry is all about community, and soccer is very much a community-driven sport. This partnership with Nashville SC is such a natural fit for both of us, and is only part of our broader efforts to help establish Music City as a global hub for blockchain and digital assets,” Valkyrie Investments CEO Leah Wald stated.
There is a spike in partnerships among various sports teams and crypto-related firms as all are jumping into the crypto bandwagon. Recently, crypto exchange OKX became Manchester City Club’s official Crypto exchange partner. The collaboration will span across both the men’s and women’s team of the Club, and its esports operations.
