The popular e-commerce platform eBay teases about a digital wallet in its Investor Day presentation fueling speculation about the firm’s crypto aspirations.
A few days back, eBay CEO Jamie Iannone stated in an interview that the firm has been planning to adopt cryptocurrency payment as an option for quite some time, and an official announcement could be made on the investor’s day.
However, during the presentation, the company said nothing concrete about crypto payments other than that its digital wallet will be available in the Q2.
But CEO Iannone did say eBay is “continuing to look at new forms of payment to add now that we’ve got the rollout of global payments complete,” at the event.
In 2014, the firm also planned to accept Bitcoin payments, although this was never carried out. Right now only NFTs can be purchased, traded, and sold on eBay’s marketplace.
