While talking at SXSW, Meta CEO and founder, Mark Zuckerberg announced thrilling news about NFT integration with the Instagram app, a social media app where people can share photos and videos.
He said that “hopefully” in the “near term” Instagram users will be able to mint NFTs on the platform. However, he didn’t reveal many details about NFT’s integration on the platform or when exactly it will happen.
Mark Zuckerberg stated that users will be able to display their NFTs on their profile and also they could mint new NFTs. He Said, “I’m not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today. But over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment.”
This isn’t the first time when the team Meta revealed its move on emerging digital space, NFTs, and Metaverse. Before this, Zuckerberg and other execs so many times showed their interest in NFTs. Earlier, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri divulged that the platform is “actively exploring” the NFTs.
Mark Zuckerberg believes that the NFT will play a crucial role in the company’s upcoming metaverse project. “I would hope that you know, the clothing that your avatar is wearing in the metaverse, you know, can be basically minted as an NFT and you can take it between your different places,” he said, “There’s like a bunch of technical things that need to get worked out before that’ll really be seamless to happen.”
Many experts believe that, If the latest announcement turns into reality, then NFT integration will definitely provide an edge to Meta over other competitors. Also, in the future, the integration will help the platform to link users with its metaverse project, which is also a big revolution in web 3 space.
