Hiphop legend and NFT icon Snoop Dogg drops his Death Row Mix: Vol 1 NFT collection in the music NFT startup platform sound.xyz.
Sound.xyz is a music startup that aims to help recording artists monetize their fans through NFTs. Meaning that now fans can also make money off the music their favorite artists are releasing, with the help of NFTs, taking fan experience to another level.
“I made this Death Row Mix for my fans to enjoy. Some bits and pieces from my friends and family for you to enjoy. Even a couple minutes for you throw your own verse in there. See you in Tha metaverse. Peace n love,” Snoop stated upon its release.
The collection comprised 1000 NFTs, each one priced at 0.1 ETH. The hype for the drop was so big the site crashed for a few seconds but the entire collection was soon sold out, generating revenue of $264,456 or 100 ETH to be precise.
The set is also available on OpenSea as its secondary marketplace. At the time of posting the NFT collection’s floor price is 0.259 ETH, with 379 ETH in traded volume.
Supporters can acquire a permanent spot in the audience by purchasing the limited edition NFT of the song. The time of support determines where you sit.
The Death Row mix also comes with multiple rewards. There is this surprise called Golden Egg where an egg is hidden in a randomly selected timestamp of a song.
The winner was revealed when the song got sold out. The winner’s NFT was then upgraded to a unique 1/1 chosen by the artist.
Next is a Golden Egg Reward in which the chosen one will receive a personalized shoutout and lyrics from Snoop Dogg on next Sound XYZ project.
There will also be exclusive access to Death Row Records NFTs along with a case of 19 crimes cali red Snoop Dogg wine as the cherry on top. The winner will be determined on March 21st.
There is this comment wall option where the NFT holder can make a public comment on the song. If they sell their NFT, the comment will be replaced by the comment from the new owner.
After this successful drop, Snoop announced a new NFT collection inspired by classic comic book covers set to be released on the MakersPlace platform. The SUPERCUZZ NFT collection features artworks by Boss Logic, with Snoop’s son Cordell Broadus as the creative director.
