Branding itself as “ the first arts and NFT platform with a global mission”, PolyOne, an NFT marketplace, announced the launch of its platform in a press release. The global mission mentioned here is to empower an “international roster of creators across a spectrum of artistic mediums. ”
The launch is designed as an “outdoor” museum and will be displayed on the Citadel of Erbil in Iraq.
The 5+ day program will start from March 18 and the official launch will be on Nowruz, March 21. The program will be public and free of charge and will also be live-streamed for global viewers. Free educational NFT workshops will also be hosted on March 19 and 20.
The program will feature NFTs from Polygon’s international roster of artists. Launch artists include the likes of Grammy-nominated singer Ashley Tamar Davis, Saeko Ehara, Yoann De Geetere, Danae Gosset, Ali Hadian and more.
PolyOne claims it is associated with a number of charities and will donate a portion of the launch proceeds to the Ukrainian and Iraqi refugees. The platform provides creators with the option to donate a portion of their earnings to causes they support.
All of PolyOne’s net proceeds will go to Global One, a DeFi lending platform which will invest in private sector companies in various fields. The projects which will be financed, should however, meet ESG criteria and “ elevate the standard of living in our communities or address matters of global concern.” The profits generated will again be invested in Global One.
The creator-centric platform is partnered with Trendland.com, Braw Haus and Parlor Gallery and has incubator spaces in Brooklyn, Asbury Park, and NJ which are “dynamic hubs for collaborations, classes, artists-in-residency programs, and lively NFT/Crypto gatherings.”
The PolyOne marketplace will support minting, trading, buying and selling of NFTs. It will use MetaMask, WalletMask and Coinbase crypto wallets. The NFTs will be minted on either Polygon or Ethereum blockchain.
PolyOne also has flexible smart contracts which will allow “ film studios, Broadway shows, dance companies, musical groups, designers, or other arts organizations” to enter this domain.
NFT marketplaces are a booming industry and a niche of the crypto industry enjoying the limelight right now. Even the peer-to-peer file sharing software, LimeWire is returning to the Internet, a decade after its shutdown, as an NFT marketplace.
