We are here to give you some tea on the new Medici Minutes edition – 7th issue. Snoop Dogg has to share a lot with us. Let’s start from the beginning.
Snoop a.k.a Cozomo de’ Medici (CDM) is, as we all know by now, bullish on NFTs. In his latest Medici Minutes – #7 he shares his opinion on the astonishing acquisition of the OG NFT collection – the alleged “bitcoin of NFTs”, CryptoPunks, and Meebits by Bored Ape Yacht Club’s creator Yuga Labs.
It enabled Yuga Labs to own the brands, copyright of digital art as well as other IP rights of CryptoPunks and Meebits, and BAYC.
Snoop Dogg compares the acquisition with businessman and art collector Bernard Jean Étienne Arnault acquiring Dior and its designer to make it a part of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH). He also goes on to compare it with Von Dutch turning into Ed Hardy because of the French fashion designer Christian Audigier.
What relevance it holds, you ask.
BAYC was among the first to offer commercial rights to the owners/holders of the ape NFT.
BAYC also has a token now called $APE that traded on an $8 billion market cap at one point. This leads the Doggfather to predict several things about the “brand” BAYC including an Ape movie or show. He lets us in on his grand picture about how a brand can evolve into other avenues.
A Gotham City metaverse, South Park & Simpsons connected with a Land, and then all of this ultimately owned by Meta (formerly Facebook). His quirky predictions don’t end here.
He directs us with the question: “Does Yuga Labs build the LVMH of NFT? Or do they stay focused on the apes and punks eco-systems… but now bring all of the pluses of apes, over to punk land?”
He discusses that buying a Punk was a great move between 2017-20 but now it is mainstream and Yuga Labs buying CryptoPunks only validates the fact that Bored Ape traits are derived from the Punks and Snoop stands by what he said in his last Medici Minute issue that historics will ultimately dominate and top the charts.
Because Yuga Labs seems to play their cards right with the newest asset by saying that they are not going to make any rash decisions, it is clear they don’t need money. They essentially removed any fear, uncertainty, and doubt around CryptoPunks as its competition – and also increased its MOAT.
“So they don’t need money,” as the Doggfather concludes. This has merged the definition of “art” and “brand” in the world of NFTs. And we’re here for it!
Then, the hip-hop icon also shares that Medici Gallery will be on display in the Afterparty Music & Art Festival. The festival is hailed as the world’s first NFT-gated music and art festival.
Moving on, Medici Minutes Issue #7 segment talks about XCOPY. Without revealing many details, the artist had shared on Twitter that his ‘Afterburn’ NFT editions will be able to burn.
Snoop Dogg revealed that he recently sold 3 of his self-owned Afterburn pieces while he holds a couple in his portfolio.
Lastly, he mentions some extraordinary female artists whose artwork has become a part of his personal collection in honor of Women’s History Month.
He mentions:
- Lana Denina
- PIA
- Zhannet Podobed
- Jenni Pasanen
- Ira Magnusson
Cozomo de’ Medici’s philanthropy efforts towards emerging artists had recently turned ‘Project Nothing’ into ‘Medici Emerging’. He announced that the total proceeds of 64.6 ETH generated from Project Nothing (then returned) will be used by Medici and Bianca_de_Medici69, Medici’s granddaughter, to mint NFTs from underdog skilled digital curators.
However, the actual spend totaled 70 ETH as reported by the latest issue of Medici Minutes.
He wrote, “What can I say, the art is too good… we just can’t stop!”
The Medici Emerging Gallery will be partnering with Deca.art, and honestly, we cannot wait for what Snoopy has to bring to the rescue of the amazing artists.
