Veteran singer Daler Mehndi makes news with the purchase of Balle Balle Land(BBL), a virtual space brought in the Metaverse for an undisclosed amount.
This space, created by Hyderabad-based gaming studio, Gametronics, will host Punjabi music, concerts and movies-related activities. This move also marks the first purchase of land on Metaverse in India.
“Audiences have moved online and I believe it is going to stay. The physical world has its own charm but with Metaverse, sky’s the limit”, said Daler Mehndi.
BBL was inaugurated on Holi and saw a larger-than-life dome covering Balle Balle Land being ruptured by laser beams from drones against a backdrop of dhol and tasha, in classic Punjabi fashion.
The singer’s avatar appeared to be handing out passports as NFTs to fans following which there was a Daler Mehndi hosted concert.
BBL features a gigantic gold statue of the singer and its own concert bus, as well as a store which will sell merchandise and royal products as both NFTs and physical goods delivered to homes.
Daler Mehndi became the first Indian singer to perform on the Metaverse in January 2022. He performed a virtual concert on the Republic Day on the metaverse platform, PartyNite and sang his classic hit songs.
“I went with an open mind on PartyNite Metaverse and it was a very rewarding experience. I really enjoyed performing on PartyNite and I wanted a permanent presence & hence, created Balle Balle Land” said the Punjabi pop singer.
