South Korean multinational conglomerate, LG Electronics has announced its foray into the expansive world of crypto.
In the annual general meeting held on March 24, LG Electronics added three new corporate charter objectives, two of which were cryptocurrency and blockchain.
The Seoul-based company has added “the development and selling of blockchain-based software” and “the sale and brokerage of cryptocurrency” to its objectives.
Asking a spokesperson whether this means the company might develop a cryptocurrency exchange, they replied “Nothing has been decided yet. We just mentioned business areas in a broad manner.”
LG Electronics also partnered with Kakao’s blockchain platform GroundX in February, to introduce an immersive NFT experience on its smart television models. It also announced a partnership with a NFT-focused company called Seoul Auction Blue to carry out projects related to NFT-based artworks.
The company has introduced a new feature called Drops Gallery for smart TVs which allows users to view NFT artworks and access cloud game services.
Another South Korean conglomerate, Samsung also announced the launch of an NFT marketplace just a few days ago.
