The Queen of Pop Madonna is establishing her ‘Material Girl’ status as she announces the purchase of a Bored Ape NFT.
“I finally entered the MetaVerse………….. My very own Ape!” the legend tweeted revealing her purchase of BAYC NFT #4988. Madonna may be also hinting at her foray into metaverse here even though no details have come out yet.
The BAYC NFT #4988 is a Dmt furred ape with an orange background. The ape is wide-eyed with a bored cigarette mouth. It sports a Sleeveless Logo Tee with an S&M hat.
Madonna bought the ape via Moonpay concierge service. She purchased the NFT for a whopping 180 ETH, approximately $565k.
When Madonna posted the BAYC image on social media, she seemed to have removed the cigarette from the ape’s mouth and changed the background color from orange to blue.
In January, Madonna actually hinted about purchasing a BAYC NFT. When BAYC member Lindsey Byrnes tweeted about a trippy fur ape that she thought would be perfect for Madonna, saying she was saving it for her, the pop icon responded with, “I’m glad you saved it for me. Ape well chosen. Now what?”
Madonna now joins the list of high profile musicians to acquire a BAYC NFT and make it her status symbol. Previously global PopStar Justin Bieber purchased a bored Ape NFT for 300% above its floor price via Moonpay.
