The Australia-based cryptocurrency exchange BTC Markets announced a strategic merchant partnership with Mastercard to facilitate card payments for its users.
BTC Markets users who previously could only pay via bank transfer would benefit greatly from this partnership. The exchange will benefit from Mastercard’s comprehensive range of payment and technologies.
Now, customers of BTC Markets will be able to make direct debit, prepaid, or credit card payments into the exchange in a secure manner.
BTC Markets CEO Caroline Bowler stated, “We’re excited to be partnering with Mastercard, who share our focus on stability, innovation and consumer protection, and enable us to offer our clients new ways to engage with this emerging digital asset class.”
Richard Wormald, Division President, Australasia for Mastercard noted “The partnership will see BTC Markets leverage our technology to provide a smart, simple and safe way for consumers to top up their digital cryptocurrency wallets, delivering a frictionless e-commerce experience.”
In the previous six months, BTC Markets has announced three significant merchant partnerships. One with Volt bank, another collaboration with online broker SelfWealth and the latest being the partnership with Mastercard.
In January of this year, crypto exchange FTX announced partnership with another payment network giant Visa to launch a debit card for users to spend their crypto balances. The FTX Visa Card is completely free, and FTX will not be charging any administrative or processing fees.
