The innovator and digital artist Pak finally dropped his long awaited collection, “Ash Chapter-II: Metamorphosis”, albeit with some hiccups. The collection was dropped on Pak’s own burn.art platform.
Although the collection was sold out as soon as it was released, a few hours into the drop saw people losing money due to gas errors. People paid the gas prices and yet their transactions failed. Angry fans took to Twitter to complain.
The NFT platform Manifold XYZ took matters into their own hands and informed people that they are looking into the gas errors and will resolve the issue soon. Two hours later, they tweeted the reasons for the transactions fails stating:
- Gas spikes caused by aggressive botting
- Poor MetaMask gas estimation issues
- Buyers manually changing gas fee estimations
The NFT platform also promised to provide gas refunds to the people who have been harmed by the drop. They will notify everyone of the strategy after the details are finalized.
After the collection sold out, Pak expressed his disappointment with how the drop went on Twitter.
Apart from asking people to be patient until a plan is developed and revealed, Pak also announced that the secondary market for this collection has been locked until all issues are resolved to avoid exploitation by botted tokens. He also announced that the problem will be taken care of by Manifold XYZ.
Although the sale was not as smooth as expected, the 7200 NFTs of the coveted “Ash Chapter- II: Metamorphosis” collection sold out swiftly.
The collection was a collaborative effort of 30 creators, each one contributing 250 NFTs. The creator list included names such as Paris Hilton and Pussy Riot and could only be brought using ASH tokens. Each NFT was priced at 50 ASH tokens.
The ASH token, which achieved a monthly high of $24.81 just a few hours before the drop of the collection as currently halved in value and is trading at a price of $12.00 at the time of writing. The steep price drop started just 10 minutes after the drop, however Pak tweeted that this ambitious collection drop was never about money and instead about creating value and infusing visionary creators into the ASH ecosystem.
