The seven-time Ballon d’Or and four-time UEFA Champions League winner, the legendary Lionel Messi teams up with fan token creators Socios.com as the platform’s first global ambassador.
According to the announcement, Messi signed a $20 million multi-year agreement with Socios.com that will last for an initial period of 3 years.
Last year when Messi transferred from Barcelona to PSG he did receive a large number of fan tokens from Socios as a part of his signing-on fee in the club.
Lionel Messi will now start to appear in a number of educational and promotional campaigns, beginning with a debut of the Socios.com brand campaign. Messi’s first campaign as Socios.com’s newly designated Global Brand Ambassador is titled ‘Be more.’
Fan tokens are a sort of crypto that are commonly used to represent different sports teams. They allow fans to have a say in little decisions made within their teams’ communities, such as squad numbers and celebration songs. Socios has fan tokens for a variety of teams in soccer, football, hockey, basketball, and other sports.
Messi is going to promote the platform to his followers around the world. He stated “Socios.com exists to enhance the fan experience, to enable fans to ‘be more’. I’m proud to join Socios.com’s mission to create a more connected and rewarding future for fans around the world.”
Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Socios.com, added “We are delighted to announce Lionel Messi as our new Global Brand Ambassador and look forward to building a more inclusive, exciting and rewarding future for fans across the world together.”
Recently another legendary football player David Beckham became the global ambassador of layer-one blockchain protocol DigitalBits. Beckham is set to release a series of NFTs and blockchain-based assets exclusively on the DigitalBits blockchain to connect and engage with his fans.
