Trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis has been a treasure trove of information for the past 24 hours. The attorney has tweeted the news of NFT related trademarks of quite a few mainstreams and famous food chains. The trademark applications have been filed by Yum! Brands owned Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC.
The trademarks are for:
- Virtual foods and drinks
- NFTs and NFTs backed multimedia
- Online stores featuring virtual goods
- Virtual restaurants featuring “real and virtual foods”
“Clearly, Yum! Brands sees the potential of the Metaverse and is preparing its trademarks and brands for the virtual economy that will dominate it”, said the seasoned attorney.
These trademark applications “follow the trend by other participants in the restaurant sector like McDonald’s, Burger King, Panera Bread, and Panda Express to begin preparations to participate in the Metaverse.”
All these applications were filed on the same day and at the same time. Two other brands also filed applications for the same trademarks at the same time. These brands are Dunkin’ and Hooters.
Flavortown owned by restauranter Guy Fieri has also filed applications to trademark:
Mike says these trademarks hint at expansion into virtual foods, drinks, goods, restaurants and concerts. It can also lead to the development of multimedia using NFTs.
Every global organization in the world from every imaginable field has been making the transition to move to the virtual world. Recently, American entertainment company GameStop filed applications for NFT-related trademarks.
