Social media giant, Meta declares the cancellation of the F8 All Developers Event for 2022 as the firm wants to strive for the next chapter of the Internet ‘Metaverse’ project.
Metaverse is a virtual world program that uses different elements such as VR (virtual reality), AR (Augmented Reality), and devices to create a real-life experience in the digital world.
“Similar to years past, we are taking a brief break in programming and will not hold F8 in 2022 while we gear up on new initiatives that are all tailored towards the next chapter of the internet, and the next chapter of our company too: building the metaverse,” said Meta’s Director of products and partnerships Diego Duarte Moreira.
However, Meta also confirmed that it will meet and share ideas in other developer events including the inaugural business messaging event ‘Conversations’, which is going to be held on May 19.
This conference will be for businesses, developers, and partners to share their innovative ideas to grow messaging platforms.
To talk and share about Meta’s AR, VR, and Metaverse platform offerings, the social media giant is going to organize another event named “Connect”.
This is not the first time that Meta, earlier known as Facebook, has scrapped the event. Before this, the platform has postponed its show in 2020 due to an outbreak of Covid-19.
After observing potential growth in the next internet revolution ‘Metaverse’, Facebook rebranded itself as “Meta” to delve into the Metaverse space. However, its social media apps kept their names as it is.
