The young 19-year-old artist FEWOCiOUS partnered up with the NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway for the first drop of “FewoWorld”, titled “Paint” on April 3-4. During this 24-hour window, the artist sold nearly $19 million of NFTs, the third-highest amount in the NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway history.
NFT collectors would purchase Paint units, which were exchanged for “Paint Drop” NFTs equal to the number of units purchased.
A unit of “Paint” was priced at $500 for Fewo holders and $1,000 for the general public, with no limit on the amount of Paint that could be purchased. The sale ended with about 5000 people buying a total of 30,198 units for about $19 million.
The sale began on April 3 at 12 p.m. ET with a private sale for Fewo NFT holders. It was followed by a public sale beginning at 5 p.m. ET and lasting until April 4.
Victor Langlois, aka FEWOCiOUS, says that each Paint Drop NFT has a select number of “Paint,” which he calls “the building block to everything” in FewoWorld.
FewoWorld is Langlois’ digital metaverse universe in which all of his projects can coexist. Nifty Gateway minted and delivered Paint Drops NFTs to holders after the public sale ended. At the end of the drop, the top 50 Paint holders were also in for a surprise.
They were eligible for an additional Diamond Paint trophy NFT as well as a custom 1/1 Fewo, one of only 100 custom Fewos in the character collection of the FewoWorld, to become available later in 2022.
FEWOCiOUS says the project is “unlike anything he has produced before,” and that there is no clear road map for the development of FewoWorld but he wants to use the funds to add more people to the team that helps with his operation.
FEWOCiOUS is known for his vibrant, energetic style, as well as his art’s trademarked small colorful blobs of paint. He debuted at the Sotheby’s Auction along with ThankYouX in the Contemporary Art Day Auction in October 2021.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Mr. MiSUNDERSTOOD,” one of his most remarkable NFT pieces in the auction, was sold for 882 ETH, or about $2.8 million.
