Indian actor Rana Daggubati, a famous name in the Telugu film industry has ventured into Metaverse with his startup Ikonz. He co-founded Ikonz with Indian American entrepreneur Abinav Varma. The startup intends to bring culture’s biggest icons and iconic IPs into the Metaverse via NFTs.
With this, Ikonz also aims to ramp up IP aggression and bring together the majority of India’s premium entertainment IPs under a single banner. It’s not only focused on actors, athletes, and other celebrities but also engaging with social media influencers, content creators and producers, along with media houses that specialize in rights ownership.
Rana Daggubati had recently stated – “As an IP owner, the world of Blockchain offers both incredible possibilities as well as challenges in the best way to identify and focus on most credible opportunities.”
He also plans to start managing and monetizing IP assets on a global stage in multiple formats as NFTs, avatars or even basic rights management. Partnering with India’s leading IPs such as Tinkle and Chitra Katha, Ikonz is all set to lead a way into the metaverse.
Recently, Ikonz has received funding from Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates-backed Village Global. The round was co-led by WoodStock Fund and joined by Polygon Studios. Last month, another Indian Superstar Nagarjuna revealed his interest in the Crypto world. He also indicated that he is preparing his foray into the NFT and Metaverse space soon.
