The leading crypto exchange Coinbase is going to produce a three-part film series to celebrate and amplify the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Apecoin community.
In a tweet, Coinbase made the announcement to bolster the trilogy of films featuring Bored Ape NFTs as characters. Interestingly, these featured Bored Ape NFTs will be contributed by NFT holders.
BAYC NFT holders, who wish to see their NFTs into a trilogy can submit their NFTs on the official website degentrilogy.com. An unknown number of selected Bored Apes will play characters in the adventure movie.
In order to submit Bored Ape NFTs, NFT holders will have to connect their Coinbase wallet with the web portal. After submitting their NFTS, the crypto exchange asks to “hide an easter egg”.
Coinbase has confirmed after posting a poster in a tweet and quoted in another tweet “Definitely something. We’re creating an interactive three-part film featuring the [Bored Ape Yacht Club] & Apecoin communities. Come build with us [at] degentrilogy.com.”
“At Coinbase, we are dedicated to creating and supporting content projects that speak directly to our community and sustaining the culture of Web3 innovation” Coinbase Entertainment and culture marketing director William Swann said in a statement.
Swann added:
“As we aim to bring the next billion people into the crypto economy, we firmly believe that this interactive film series will act as a catalyst to serve that mission and help audiences understand the collaborative nature of Web3. We’ve been inspired by the Bored Ape Yacht Club community and [we are] excited to invite them to co-create this film with us.”
The community of crypto natives and newcomers will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite ape’s storyline to collectively create a truly unique adventure.
Some recent moves from Coinbase show its immense interest in non-fungible tokens offerings. Last month, the crypto exchange ended the long haul for its NFT marketplace after making the announcement that its NFT marketplace will launch “soon”.
Nicole Muniz, the CEO of Yuga Labs called the move a breakthrough in NFT history and added “We’re seeing how NFTs are evolving to be vehicles of access and participation in networks, games, merchandise, and now interactive entertainment,” Muniz explained during the announcement on Monday. This is a breakthrough project and we’re excited to see how this shapes the future of Web3 for all communities.”
