NBA player Spencer Dinwiddie has partnered with Bitrefill to launch the world’s most high-tech sneaker ‘Bitsneaks’. The sneaker can display the real time price of Bitcoin.
Dinwidde said, “I’ve always strived to be a transformative and revolutionary leader in the cryptocurrency world and the opportunity to develop the world’s most high-tech sneaker with Bitrefill has been the experience of a lifetime!”
Each sneaker has built-in cellular technology and a sleek and flexible LED-matrix screen. The LED screen is controllable through a mobile application.
The LED screens of all sneakers are programmed to turn purple when the price of 1 BTC reaches $1 million.
Bitrefill partnered with Nordic Society for Invention and Discovery (TNSID) and Dinwiddie to concoct this progessive technology.
Each sneaker costs 1BTC ($40,073.20 at the time of authorization) and can only be bought with Bitcoin. The sneakers will be launched on a yet to be decided sneaker marketplace.
The founders will also launch a limited edition that will include a full node and mining rig built into the packaging.
“For us to beat giants like Nike and build what everyone said was impossible is yet another proof of what a small dedicated team like ours can do when trying to achieve something truly foolish”, said Sergej Kotliar, founder of Bitrefill.
Bitrefill started accepting pre-orders for this limited edition sneaker pair since April 13.
Kotliar continued,“In the same way we believe our services at Bitrefill.com must be 10 times better than our competitors, when we made a sneaker, we wanted it with 10x the coolness of anything else.”
The Bitrefill team has said that this is the first of many upcoming launches.
