Multi-platform web browser Opera has launched the iOS update to its “Crypto Browser Project”, designed for accessing Web3, with a non-custodial crypto wallet built-in.
The browser includes an integrated non-custodial Crypto Wallet that supports Ethereum. It recently announced support for a variety of major blockchain ecosystems and dApps, including Solana, Polygon, Bitcoin, StarkEx, Ronin, Celo, and others.
One of the browser’s features is a news and data aggregator called “Crypto Corner”– a dedicated start page with live crypto information and updates, crypto asset prices and gas fees, crypto events, airdrops, and even podcasts.
The iOS update also comes with the ability to restore any Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible Wallet with the native Opera Wallet, allowing users to integrate their existing assets and balances into their Crypto Browser setup.
This built-in wallet allows buying crypto with fiat, as well as sending, receiving, and swapping the tokens of any supported blockchain. Additionally, Opera’s support for Polygon introduces users to over 7,000 dApps, including popular gaming apps and NFTs.
It also stops any ‘cryptojacking’ scripts, i.e. cybercrime involving crypto mining against the user’s will, from compromising iOS devices and potentially decreasing their performance.
Opera Crypto Browser is designed for both veteran crypto users, as well as newbies who still need help navigating crypto and Web3.
Jorgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera, said: “The interest in Web3 is continuing to grow. The Opera Crypto Browser Project was built to simplify the Web3 user experience that has often been bewildering for mainstream users. Opera believes Web3 has to be easy to use in order to reach its full potential and mass adoption.”
Back in January this year, Opera had launched the beta version of its Web3 browser for Mac, Android, and Windows users but the version for iOS devices still wasn’t ready for rollout.
