The upcoming non-fungible token(NFT) Skateboarding game, SkateX announced today the joining of professional skater Stevie Williams as a mentor, to take care of your Speed Bumps!
In his role as a mentor, Williams will advise on the design of skateboards and streetwear featured in SkateX., as suggested by reports.
Apart from being a famous sportsperson, Williams is also the founder of Dirty Ghetto Kids (DGK).
One can purchase the Stevie Williams-inspired decks and outfits as NFTs. These NFTs can be used in the SkateX game, thus providing every player with their own individual look.
Block Tackle co-founder Rob Oshima, said “With Skate X, players will own their in-game items and can show off their skills and avatars with skate enthusiasts from around the world.”
Rob further added that Stevie Williams was the first name that came to mind while the firm was thinking of partnering with skating and style icons.
Apart from contributing in the development of the NFTs and gameplay, Stevie will also be SkateX’s ambassador and support the skating community and musicians too.
Williams will also give his fans a foretaste of the latest skateboards and streetwear through Instagram and Twitter.
Stevie Williams said, “I pass on almost everything though because projects need to be authentic and involve culture; they need to have roots based on legit skate history. I found out about SkateX not too long ago, and it’s clear that SkateX is for the culture, and that’s what I’m about. Get your boards ready.”
SkateX’s first 1080 3D animated skateboards was released on the Magic Eden NFT marketplace recently and got sold out in minutes. Speaking of the marketplace, it had raised $27 million in a Series A funding round.
The game would be developed by Block Tackle, a new Web3 game studio creating immersive games that leverage blockchain technology and allow players to own their own digital assets. SkateX would be its first massively multiplayer online (MMO) game!
