The Azuki NFT community are enthralled after unveiling the details of the BEANZ NFT collection after two weeks upon its surprise airdrop.
The Azuki team shocked the community by airdropping NFTs at the Azuki Garden Party event on April Fools eve, and most of them took it as an obvious joke.
On April Fools day the community was asked to refresh their metadata only to find the NFTs in the shape of a pile of dirt. And the team had other plans with the ultimate reveal of the Azuki sidekick.
The BEANZ collection comprising 19,944 NFTs is an icon for the Azuki brand, and as the name suggests the NFTs look like Azuki Beans. Currently the floor price of the set is 5.2 ETH, with 24.5k ETH volume traded.
Holders of the BEANZ collection will have access to a Discord channel exclusively for them. There will be merch/collectible drops, among other surprises to be announced in the near future.
Users can either couple BEANZ with their Azuki as the story progresses, without altering the original Azuki NFT, or keep it alone as a BEANZ maverick. When BEANZ is revealed, the type and attributes of the character will be absolutely random.
To communicate with one another, the little BEANZ creates noises. They also express themselves through gestures and graffiti.
They all appear to be the same right now, but the team is hinting at something more. Perhaps in the not-too-distant future, there will be distinct characteristics or other discernible variances.
Toshi
There are two types of BEANZ in this airdrop. To begin with, there’s Toshi. This red BEANZ disobeys all of the regulations that have been imposed on him. He wanders from the garden to the alley on his own. He doesn’t like to fight, but if you tell him where he can and can’t skate, he’ll bite.
Gus/ Les
Then there’s Gus, or Les, as it’s nicknamed. We’re still not sure what the blue BEANZ are called. They’re no better than Toshi when it comes to getting into mischief. They like to irritate Azukis, therefore expect to see a lot of enraged Azukis in the near future.
There appears to be more to the collection than the playful BEANZ as of this reveal. The team is implying that there will be more in the Azuki universe very soon.
At the time of writing, BEANZ Official is the seventh most traded collection in the last 30 days according to OpenSea stats.
The Azuki NFT collection made headlines a few days ago when it was announced that Azuki’s Bobu the Bean Farmer would be joining the outer space mission ‘Crew-4’ to the International Space Station on April 23 with top-tier space agencies SpaceX and NASA.
