As Tech firms continue to flock to the fast thriving crypto space, the information technology (IT) consulting firm Accenture announced hiring of 150,000 employees in India to work from the metaverse.
As per reports, the new hires will use Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to work from the metaverse on their first day.
The firm will have a virtual working premises on the metaverse, called the Nth floor and employees will meet, collaborate and learn there. It is revealed that immersive working sees 30-40% more productivity than the traditional ways of learning.
The firm believes that the Metaverse and Web3 are transforming the virtual world. As an effort in this direction, Accenture has launched the Accenture Metaverse Continuum business group.
Paul Daugherty, Chief Executive for Technology and Chief Technology Officer would be leading this group.
The metaverse demands a range of digital skills. The skills include distributed ledger expertise and understanding the economics of creating tokenized products.
Other skills include the expertise in XR, blockchain, gaming, security, and AI. The metaverse also needs developers and experts in 3D commerce, digital currency, and digital asset markets.
The company also plans to hire 3D artists and game designers.
Accenture has built digital twins of many of its physical offices including Bengaluru, Madrid, and San Francisco to give a familiar touch for its employees to meet, collaborate, and network.
Accenture already holds 600 patents in the metaverse.
The company points out two distinct use cases for the metaverse, first being the Internet-of-place or shared collaborative experiences that can be immersive in 3D. The other, is internet-of-identity where blockchain develops a unique identity for virtual objects that can’t be duplicated.
Accenture’s India centre has a studio to work on client requirements for the metaverse including creating the architecture for non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Another IT firm that gave wings to its crypto ambition was TCS Private Ltd. which added its ‘Virtual Branch’ in Metaverse for retail transactions. Furthermore, Indian IT firm Tech Mahindra, too tried its metaverse venture in the form of ‘Meta Village’ which was inspired by Pargaon located in Maharashtra.
