The United Talent Agency (UTA), a global talent agency representing celebrities like Timotheé Chalamet, Frances McDormand, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, signed Deadfellaz, an Ethereum-based women-led collection of 10,000 NFTs.
The Deadfellaz project featuring NFTs of the zombie characters in its collection was co-created by two people who go by the names “Betty” and “Psych”.
Celebrity participation and interest in Deadfellaz NFTs included The Lord of the Rings’ Elijah Wood, DJ music artist Steve Aoki, and Big Little Lies’ Reese Witherspoon.
UTA will collaborate with the Deadfellaz co-creators to develop the initiative into new areas such as brand collaborations, retail, gaming, and live events.
The 10,000 green-skinned zombies were released in August 2021 and have a floor price of 2.118 ETH or $6,500 on OpenSea. To date, the collection has sold 26.7K ETH, or approximately $82 million, in the NFT marketplace. The Deadfellaz NFT holders, referred to as “The Horde”, gain access to virtual events and new collections, among other benefits.
Lesley Silverman, Head of Web3 at UTA, said, “We’re really excited to support not only a female-led project, but one that has continually vouched for authentic inclusivity and diversity in web3 since its inception.”
UTA manages well-known figures such as Halsey and Malala Yousafzai, and with DeadFellaz on board, the collection can expand its opportunities through the agency.
Betty, Co-creator of Deadfellaz, said, “It is an honor and a pleasure to work with the team at UTA, who understand both the web3 space and our vision for Deadfellaz deeply. This relationship, combined with our boundary pushing innovation paints a very exciting picture for the future of The Horde.”
Digital exploration is nothing new at UTA. It has been watching the blockchain marketplace for a long time. The talent agency signed a deal with Larva Labs, the studio behind NFT projects like CryptoPunks and Meebits.
