The global transport operator MTR Corporation has joined The Sandbox metaverse to build a railway-focused virtual space to develop fun, unique, and immersive experiences through gamification.Â
The corporation will work with The Sandbox and its strategic partner Collectiv in developing a roadmap and creating a virtual railway station in the metaverse. The aim is to take user experience to new heights and support creators to build the community platform together.
MTR has also acquired a plot of land in The Sandbox. With this, it intends to interact with customers, in particular the young generation who have always been enthusiastic about embracing the metaverse.
MTR’s attempt to mimic and gamify the physical railway environment will offer the players an enjoyable MTR journey beyond a train ride. There would be endless new possibilities such as driving a train, operating a railway station, and unlocking exciting adventures in this constantly evolving Web3 space.
Moreover, The Sandbox and MTR also have plans to build a virtual railway museum to showcase the moments that MTR intersects with the communities and cultures of Hong Kong. The corporation will then explore making use of the virtual environment to facilitate STEM education.
Combining strong creative and social elements with GameMaker and VoxEdit, MTR will offer the players to integrate their own creations into the metaverse. The immersive experiences will be open to the public.Â
Yesterday, The Sandbox revealed its partnership with nWay, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands to bring selected Apex Athletes NFTs into the metaverse space with 3D avatars.
