A Baltimore-based Porsche dealership Porsche Towson has begun accepting payments for its cars using crypto, announced by Bitcoin payment service provider BitPay on Twitter.
Porsche Towson sells both brand new and pre-owned Porsche cars and BitPay announced in a blog post earlier that crypto fans can buy a car with Bitcoin (and other mainstream cryptos), and meme coins like Shiba Inu, Dogecoin, and the several US- dollar-pegged stablecoins.
Thus, it is safe to say that the Porsche Cayenne SUV featured on the Porsche Towson website, can be bought for 684,203.13 Dogecoins or for 3,852,796,350 SHIB coins, at the time of writing.
Several car dealerships use BitPay to accept crypto payments in exchange for cars. Some of the BitPay car dealership partners include a Lamborghini dealer in California, and Post Oak Motors possessing Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Bugatti dealerships.
This is not it though. BitPay is integrated for theater tickets to be purchased with crypto. The leading theater company in the US, the AMC app was updated by users so as to enable crypto payments with Dogecoin and SHIB.
However, this isn’t the first time an independent car company opted for cryptocurrency as a payment option for its offerings. Elon Musk’s Tesla sided with his favorite Dogecoin when it announced that Tesla e-vehicle owners will be able to pay in Doge at Supercharger stations.
