Chinese sportswear and sports equipment company, Li Ning has announced a new line of clothing which will feature the celebrated Bored Ape Yacht Club images.
The clothing line will specifically feature the Ape #4102 from the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club.
The company is planning to sell t-shirts and caps featuring the BAYC NFT image. The announcement was made by Li Ning on Weibo, which is China’s Twitter-like microblogging platform.
The move comes in an attempt to capitalize on the growing NFT trend. The sportswear brand was founded by the former Olympic gymnast Li Ning. The company endorses a number of athletes and teams worldwide.
Another Chinese sportswear brand, Anta which was the official partner of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics also entered the NFT world earlier this year. The brand launched digital collectibles featuring the nation’s athletic team.
With the increasing popularity of the metaverse and the NFT market, Chinese authorities have also increased their scrutiny of metaverse and NFT related frauds.
Chinese authorities have issued a stern warning against its citizens committing financial crimes using NFTs and Metaverse.
The one-party socialist country also recently launched its first metaverse lab. Located in the Tsinghua University, the laboratory will analyze and research trends in the metaverse, the various fields in the metaverse and the path ahead for media companies.
