The popular Netflix show Stranger Things is reportedly all set to launch NFTs in partnership with NFT platform Candy Digital, ahead of its Season 4 installment.
The NFT launch rumors started doing rounds when hardcore fans of Stranger Things found iamhellmaster.com, a website where an interactive alternate reality mystery game is going to be revealed.
A timer on the site’s landing page is ticking down until April 30th 8pm EST. “Congrats for uncovering the clues and joining Stranger Things 4’s interactive curiosity voyage, brought to you by Candy Digital and Netflix,” says a pop-up upon clicking ‘enter’.
Users who submit their email will get a message from Candy Digital that tells them that they’ll soon be able to immerse themselves “in the mystery by decoding messages, solving puzzles, and even collecting rewards along the way”.
Despite the fact that neither the website nor the email specifies NFTs or anything similar, Redditors were not duped as most of them know Candy is an NFT platform, and it’s easy to assume that Candy is teaming up with Netflix to release Stranger Things NFTs as part of the show’s season four promotional campaign.
Stranger Things fans are giving mixed reactions to a Reddit post alerting them of the game. Many of them were completely against the idea of NFTs while the other half familiar with NFTs are saying that the launch is infact a good idea.
Netflix isn’t the first media corporation to launch NFTs based on hit TV shows and blockbusters. Just in March, AMC Networks collaborated with Orange Comet to launch NFTs based on the hit show ‘The Walking Dead’. The collection got sold out within less than 24 hours of its release.
