Apollo Global, one of the world’s biggest private investment firms, has hired JPMorgan’s former executive Christine Moy. She is one of the industry’s longest prevailing executives as she worked at JPMorgan Chase for 18 years and recently was the global head of their blockchain product Link.
The company revealed on Thursday that it hired Moy as the first head of its new digital-asset strategy.
“In this newly created position, Christine will lead digital asset strategy across the firm, exploring more ways to apply blockchain technologies to our business” Apollo said in an emailed statement.
The firm believes that Christine Moy will play a key role in the strategy to invest in the most innovative digital asset companies and founders, with a specific focus on those transforming the financial services sector where Apollo can serve as a validator and enabler of new technologies.
The time that Moy spent at JPMorgan helped her gain a reputation as one of the most innovative and crypto-forward executives in the industry. She was not only the head of crypto in JPMorgan but also of the metaverse.
Apollo is aiming to eye for investment opportunities in blockchain and Web 3, but will not be funding any projects that do not have high revenue generation potential. Investments will range between $50 million and $250 million, according to the report.
Apollo is planning to look past Bitcoin, “to real-world use cases like asset custody, securitizations and marketplaces,” said John Zito, deputy chief investment officer of credit.JPMorgan has made tremendous progress in the digital industry under the intelligence of a pioneer like Moy. JPMorgan was the first bank to open virtual land in the metaverse, Decentraland. Many crypto enthusiasts are excited to see what steps Moy will take to enhance Apollo’s digital presence.
