The formidable track car company McLaren Automotive is “pushing its boundaries” by launching a Web3 platform which is an extension of its customization division, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) Lab. It is tapping on the gates of the metaverse and possibly the supercar’s first exclusive NFT collection.
MSO is McLaren’s “bespoke” division that takes individual standard cars and customizes them to clients’ tastes. It is extended to an MSO Lab:
- To provide its clients exclusive access to limited-edition McLaren NFTs.
- To serve as the HQ for members to collaborate, connect and unlock new metaverse experiences in the exclusive community.
- Give access to the digital sketches created by the company’s design team to all first-generation owners of the NFT collection.
The first McLaren NFT series “Genesis Collection” will drop on 11th May which will be carrying “Category One” membership to the MSO Lab community for the NFT owner. It is an invite-only mint i.e. owners of McLaren cars will be prioritized.
The British luxury carmaker’s NFT marketplace is backed by metaverse partner InfiniteWorld. Its roadmap includes launching the McLaren Automotive Discord channel, airdropping tickets for exclusive McLaren events, and a virtual tour of McLaren headquarters & MSO Lab among other things.
Car NFTs are becoming a real thing for engaging their loyal fans and clients and monetizing from the NFT boom. Just yesterday, Mercedes-AMG Petronas in partnership with FTX also announced the launch of its NFTs.
