Australia’s largest cryptocurrency exchange platform, BTC Markets will walk the walk with the 2022 Australian Fashion Week (AFW). The platform has been announced the official partner of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week and will launch a couture dress as an NFT.
The Australian Fashion Week will kick-start on May 9 and will continue until May 13 at various venues across Sydney.
The dress, designed by Daniel Avakian will be displayed virtually in an animated avatar form, available for sale as an NFT.
The dress will also be displayed physically during the Fashion Week and will be available for sale as a real garment as well.
Caroline Bowler, CEO of BTC Markets said, “Taking Crypto to the Catwalk! Another first from @BTCMarkets – official Cryptocurrency partner for the Afterpay Australian Fashion Week. We’ve also got an awesome collab with Daniel Avakian to share along with lots of other goodies to announce!”
Caroline will also speak at the event on May 10 in a series of thought-provoking panel discussion sessions alongside notable industry leaders.
Australian Fashion Week stated on their website, “Fashion has entered the metaverse, with NFTs and augmented reality gaining popularity amongst consumers who want more ways to shop and engage with brands. The session will break down the fashion-tech trends.”
The CEO believes that this move will help the company connect with the crypto-savvy women of Australia. This could indeed be a smart move considering the fact that the number of females signing up for crypto trading accounts has risen by 128% when compared to last year.
On the flip side, the number of men signing up for crypto trading accounts has risen by only 83%. The statistics are provided by a recent Investor Study Report, compiled by BTC Markets itself.
American-based premium design firm Tommy Hilfiger recently participated in the opening of Metaverse Fashion Week on Decentraland. The brand set up a virtual display of its Spring 2022 collection along with a digital retail platform.
