American luxury Fitness Club Equinox will soon start accepting cryptocurrency payments. With this, Equinox will become the first gym in the Big Apple to allow members to pay their membership fees in crypto.
Reportedly, the gym is expected to make the official announcement today. Equinox intends to connect with its members both digitally and physically and hence, it has partnered with Bitpay, a major bitcoin, and crypto payment service.
The membership fee at Equinox starts from $250 per month. Now members will be able to pay their membership fee with crypto. Equinox is known for providing high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness in its club. Also, it has seamlessly integrated and always-on digital and physical programming.
Moreover, the luxury gym has bounced back from a pandemic slump, considering Equinox sales were up 122% in Q1 when compared to Q1 in 2019, and its sales are up 60.9% in Q1 compared to the same time frame.
It appears that U.S. citizens are familiar with cryptocurrency, and according to recent research 16% of Americans have ever invested in cryptocurrency. Among them, male adults ages 18 to 29 are more likely to say they have invested in crypto.
While crypto hype is reaching out the roof, many American companies and startups are embracing the concept quite readily. Recently, the BAYC NFT-themed restaurant named Bored & Hungry was inaugurated in California, becoming the first restaurant to accept crypto payments in Ethereum and APE coins.
