The company focussed on NFTs and metaverse gaming Animoca Brands collaborated with Untamed Planet to create a natural world in the metaverse. As a part of the partnership, Untamed Planet and Animoca Brands will develop and publish Untamed Metaverse, an immersive upcoming game to benefit nature conservation.
In Brief:
- Animoca Brands and Untamed Planet will release an NFT collection featuring animal avatars.
- These NFTs are based on the work of renowned wildlife photographer David Yarrow.
- The proceeds will be donated to wildlife conservation efforts.
Untamed Planet has also completed a US$24.3 million Series A funding led by Animoca Brands. The raised capital will support the development of Untamed Metaverse with the expertise of Animoca Brands and its subsidiary nWay.
Untamed Metaverse is a 3D immersive gaming experience in which players will be able to explore a digital version of the world’s most amazing wild landscapes, participate in quests, collect NFTs, and build communities passionate about conserving nature. All these efforts will directly reflect in protecting nature and the wild.
This initiative is aimed at a good cause, that is to preserve nature. The Untamed Planet is digitizing the world’s most amazing wildlife ecosystems and creating fun nature-oriented experiences through engagement which ultimately will benefit conservation in the real world.
The first collaboration by Animoca Brands and Untamed Planet is an NFT collection of animal avatars based on the work of globally recognized photographer David Yarrow. Yarrow has donated six of his original photos and all the proceeds from this NFT collection will be donated to wildlife conservation efforts. The NFTs will go on sale in May.
The first NFT collection from Untamed Planet will be minted on Solana, a protocol with high energy efficiency. Also, the 50% profit share is committed to Nature. The company donates, invests, and distributes a minimum of half of each project’s profit to the local communities supporting conservation initiatives. Some projects allot over 50% and up to 100% of all proceeds to conservation.
While this seems a great move to merge mainstream gaming with new prospects to drive real-world conservation, Animoca Brands is exploring its metaverse ecosystem beyond.
Last month, Animoca Brands acquired gaming studio Eden Games from Engine Gaming & Media to develop and expand its metaverse. This acquisition will also result in the Sandbox creator developing a series of new blockchain-based racing games.
