The Meta owned company, Instagram has announced that it will launch a pilot project on Monday to display NFTs for crypto art on the social media website.
Instagram will support NFTs from the Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and Flow blockchains. Although it is unknown whether the pilot will support all of these blockchains or will be rolled out in phases.
The pilot will feature a small group of US based NFT aficionados.
Instagram will also support widely-used wallets such as MetaMask. People will need to connect their wallets to their Instagram accounts to prove ownership of the NFT and then be able to post them on their accounts as well as tag the creators.
Instagram will, however, not charge users for displaying and sharing NFTs.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO & founder of Meta, announced a few weeks ago that Instagram will soon roll out features using which users will be able to display their NFTs on their profiles and mint new ones.
With over one billion active users from throughout the world, this new feature will increase the global prominence of NFTs.
