Hip-Hop legend Snoop Dogg teamed up with PayPal co-founder Ken Howery to buy all 25 Fire-Tier editions of the Bivouac BIG3 team. Undoubtedly, Ice Cube’s BIG3 league is at the forefront of Web3 and NFT adoption.
Ken Howery expressed his enthusiasm about this new purchase saying, “The BIG3 is on the leading edge of enabling blockchain technology as a utility.” He further added, “The league’s embrace of NFTs as ownership rights is both visionary and practical key features of every smart investment.”
BIG3 co-founder, Ice Cube also stated that Ken’s experience and knowledge of wanting to be a part of our league demonstrate that we are moving in the right direction. On the other hand, Snoop is an undisputed legend who clearly understands the value and importance of what we are trying to create.
This purchase follows the Solana-based DeGods Dao acquiring the Killer 3s team in the BIG3 league. It was the first time in NFT history that a community purchased a professional basketball team. With this, DeGods decided to buy 25 Fier-Tier editions of Killer 3’s NFTs in exchange for a share of the team’s ownership and utility.
As per Ice Cube’s announcement on Saturday, the 25 Fier-Tier NFTs for BIG3 team Tri State were bought by a group led by tech entrepreneurs Vinny Lingham, Sunny Deep, and Kevin Rose.
Ice Cube also stated that Rose’s NFT collection of 10,000 pixelated owls Moonbirds will be the community sponsor behind the purchase.
These NFT deals are part of BIG3’s new model of ownership which leverages blockchain technology to sell NFTs offering ownership-like benefits via two-tier options consisting of 12,000 editions – 1,000 for each of the league’s 12 teams. These include 25 Fire priced at $25,000 each and 975 Gold priced at $5,000 each.
