The US-based sportswear brand Under Armour announced they will be dropping NFTs to honor every three-point shot made by NBA starplayer Stephen Curry during the current playoff games.
The Steph Curry NFTs will be distributed to fans on a first-come, first-serve basis. It will include ‘serums’, which are stored in digital wallets and allow owners to customize the appearance of their avatars.
The most active fans of the Golden State Warriors player can collect three free digital Basketballs for every three-pointer Curry makes in a playoff game. It is going to be launched under the Curry Brand.
Fans must first link their MetaMask wallet to the website before proceeding to the ‘Reserve an NF3 Basketball’ option. Steph Curry supporters simply have to click ‘Agree to Terms & Conditions’ and then ‘Reserve’ when a Basketball is available to reserve.
The users must then scroll down to the ‘NF3 Basketball Winners’ section to see if they have successfully reserved a Basketball. They should scroll down to ‘NF3 Counter’ after verification and select ‘Claim’ one hour after the game.
When Curry makes a three-pointer in the Playoffs, the reserve button will be activated. NF3 Basketball is not guaranteed by pressing Reserve. Only the first person to click ’Reserve’ will be able to secure an NFT, but they have to pay the gas fee.
If a user successfully reserves a Basketball NFT, they will not be able to reserve again until the next game. If they are unsuccessful in reserving a Basketball NFT, they can continue to try until they are successful.
Under Armour plans to release an additional 20,000 basketball NFTs in June, with more details about the drop and NF3 Basketball to be revealed later.
This is not the first time Under Armour has partnered with Stephen Curry. In December 2021, Under Armour introduced the world’s first cross-platform metaverse sneaker with full in-game capabilities as Curry broke the all-time three-point NBA record by sinking his 2974th career shot.
In March, Stephen Curry dropped a birthday cake-themed NFT to the holders of his 2974 NFT Collection as part of his 34th birthday celebration. The 2974 collection features a series of uniquely numbered NFTs available on the FTX platform, each NFT emphasizing a specific made 3-pointer and game date spanning his 12-year career.
