The Yuga Labs’ Otherside Metaverse project gave a sneak peak of their new gameplay update, and the whole NFT community is enthralled by the reveal.
“Voyagers, your Otherdeed is your key to helping build the Otherside metaverse. As we reassemble the Obelisk together, the Otherside comes to life,” Otherside tweeted.
With this intriguing tweet, Otherside also shared a new website link that delves deeper into the world and how players’ decisions will affect their destiny.
The Otherdeed holders aka Voyagers will be able to decouple artifacts and Kodas from their land. Otherdeeds are dynamic NFTs that contain all of the game elements. Each Otherdeed comes with a set of resources and some include a Koda or more.
Specifically, each piece of land in Otherside has up to four replenishing resources. Users will be able to harvest these resources and use them in the game.
Some of the resources are rarer than others. They include anima (for research), ore (metal), shard (stone), and root (wood).
There are also five sediment types that each land is built upon. Each is assigned a tier: Biogenic Swamp (tier 5), Chemical Goo (tier 4), Rainbow Atmos (tier 3), Cosmic Dream (tier 2), and Infinite Expanse (tier 1).
The Otherside website hints about a marketplace, “Voyagers, come together to buy, sell, barter, and trade for what you need. Or craft new items from raw materials. Let us build, create, and innovate with each other.”
The project also tweeted a 36-second demo of the gameplay created in collaboration with metaverse technology firm Improbable.
Curtis the ape waves to the viewer at the start of the video, and then runs around the Otherside metaverse. Curtis is sucked into a vortex and carried into a swamp by the Bored Ape Yacht Club at the midway point of the teaser.
Improbable will develop Otherside on the M² network, creating an open metaverse on which the community can build and own unique characters and experiences. Just in April, Improbable raised $150 million in its latest funding round to develop M².
Yuga Labs wishes to create a MetaRPG universe where players own the realm, where any NFT can become a playable character, and where thousands of people can play at once.
Holders of Otherdeed NFTs can participate in prototype builds, demos, and tests as a first step in shaping the final game design and experience.
Improbable CEO Herman Narula stated “Otherside is going to blow people’s minds while upending decades-long ideas of what gaming is and what’s possible with open platforms. In just our early development, we’ve successfully tested over 15,000 people interacting in the same virtual space at the same time using M2 technology.”
The Otherside project has been successful since its launch, and the community is more than happy with all these innovations the team is bringing to develop the initiative. The Otherside Metaverse Sale generated $561 Million within 24 hours, and recently the eighth rarest virtual land piece from the Otherside was sold for a record $1.5M.
