Crypto exchange platform Coinbase has announced the launch of a global crypto-focused think tank named Coinbase Institute.
The think tank will focus on conducting and publishing research on crypto and web3. It will also collaborate with academics, policymakers, and the crypto community.
The think-tank also announced its first academic partnership with the University of Michigan, wherein they will conduct a survey of the adoption and sentiments towards crypto in U.S. households.
Coinbase Institutes will build an in-house team to spread awareness about crypto and web3. The company will regularly release primers to increase the understanding of concepts in the crypto space. The first primer, Crypto and the Climate has already been released.
Coinbase Institute, led by Hermine Wong and Dr. Cesare Fracassi, will release a monthly insights report on the digital asset market.
The Institute’s advisory board is formed by Christian Catalini, the founder of the MIT Crypto Economics Lab; Marco Di Maggio, a faculty member at Harvard Business School; Vikramaditya S. Khanna, professor of Law at the University of Michigan; Nagpurnanand Prabhala, a professor at the John Hopkins University; Manju Puri, a professor at the Duke University.
The announcement of Coinbase Institute comes after Coinbase missed its Q1 trading volume expectations. The company’s trading volume dropped 44% in comparison to the fourth quarter of 2021. The launch of this think tank might help increase the popularity and consequently the trading volume of Coinbase.
