At this year’s Art Basel Hong Kong, NFTs and generative art will also be displayed on the Tezos blockchain. The exhibit is named ‘NFTs + The Ever-Evolving World of Art’ and this will be the first Tezos exhibition at Art Basel.
The exhibition will display the works of numerous contemporary generative digital and NFT artists from around the world. Artists hailing from Brunei, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and several other places will display their artworks.
Each of these digital artists have their own unique styles and disciplines and will showcase the diversity, strength, and potential of NFTs as an art medium.
Few of the renowned artists participating in the exhibit are Filipino painter and interdisciplinary artist Bjorn Calleja, Singaporean artist Yeo Shih Yun, and China’s Song Ting who created the very first NFT artwork to be auctioned on China Guardian.
“To see NFTs making their way to yet another edition of Art Basel points to the growing legitimacy of the medium as artists and collectors around the world recognize its value beyond crypto circles and social media,” said Yeo Shih Yun.
The overall exhibition includes an interactive installation created in partnership with FXhash, a generative art NFT marketplace on Tezos.
To interact with the installation, visitors can scan a QR code which will trigger the live-minting of a 1/1 generative artwork NFT from one of the series of the participating artists.
The artwork will be displayed in the installation as well as sent to the visitor’s Tezos’ browser-based Kukai wallet as a gift. The NFTs will be minted on the Tezos blockchain. The interactive installation is expected to mint 5,000-8,000 editions of the works of the participating generative artists.
The installation will update itself in real-time and will give audiences the chance to engage and collaboratively generate their own one-of-a-kind artwork.
Katherine Ng, Head of Marketing and Operations at TZ APAC (the blockchain adoption entity supporting the Tezos ecosystem) said, “To have the opportunity to showcase some of the world’s leading digital art talent is at the heart of what the Tezos ecosystem is celebrated for.”
“In line with this year’s theme of ‘NFTs + the Ever-Evolving World of Art’, we’re excited to showcase especially innovative works that point to NFTs and their limitlessness as a medium, empowering artists as it redefines the scope and scale of today’s art world in the digital age.”
The exhibition will also have a “Genius Bar”-style setup where artists and curators may learn more about NFTs directly from Tezos ecosystem teams.
The exhibit, “NFTs and the Ever-Evolving World of Art” will be available for invites-only viewing from May 24 to 30. It will be available to everyone from May 27 to 29.
