The American multinational fast food restaurant franchise, Subway, has filed for two metaverse-related trademark applications with the USPTO.
The news was tweeted by trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis on Twitter.
One of the applications is for virtual food and drinks, NFT backed media and virtual restaurants with actual and virtual products.
Non-downloadable virtual food and beverage items are also included in the application, as well as entertainment services such as a virtual restaurant where users can interact for leisure, pleasure, or entertainment.
The other application is for the stylised ‘S’ logo of ‘Subway’.
The applications were filed on May 17 and indicate the possible entry of Subway in the metaverse.
Subway is not the first food chain to indicate metaverse entry. A few weeks ago, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC also applied for metaverse-related trademark applications with the USPTO.
