The governing body of Argentina soccer, the Argentine Football Association (AFA), partners with NFT platform Ethernity to drop NFTs to celebrate the “Finalissima”.
Finalissima 2022 is a cross-continental match between the winners of the Euro Cup and Copa America which are Italy and Argentina respectively.
The past and future heroes and legends from Argentina’s football history will be honored via the AFA Icons NFT collection set to drop tomorrow at 12 PM EST.
This collection holds a special place in Argentina’s illustrious World Cup history, and it will be immortalized on the blockchain with Ethernity.
The match will take place on June 1st at Wembley Stadium in London, and will be reminiscent of a historic 1990 World Cup semi-final between Argentina, the 1986 World Cup winners, and hometown favorites Italy.
The inaugural NFT features golden boy Diego Maradona, Claudio Caniggia, who scored the game’s only goal to force extra time, and Sergio Goycochea, the goalie who famously saved two penalty kicks to win the match and make history.
The great Lionel Messi, striker Lautaro Martinez, whose club team is Italy’s Serie A’s Inter Milan, and midfielder Rodrigo De Paul are featured in the second NFT from the collection.
Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez, and Rodrigo De Paulis are the reason behind Argentina’s Copa America win, who are now on the road to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
Using Ethernity’s Chainlink VRF randomizer, one buyer of these NFTs will be enrolled into a raffle to win a signed jersey.
The buyers of this collection will have early access to AFA’s next NFT drop, which will be released in the lead-up to the World Cup in the fall.
This is not AFA’s first collaboration with a crypto-based platform. Recently, Binance extended its alliance with the AFA for 5 years by signing its first sponsorship deal. Binance became the sponsor for Argentina National Football Team just a few months ago and this deal extends that agreement.
