On June 3, WWE and Fox Entertainment’s Blockchain Creative Labs revealed plans to woo fans with the launch of its first NFT sale on Moonsault, WWE’s official NFT marketplace. The NFTs will feature WWE’s top stars.
The limited-edition NFT collection includes more than 10,000 “NFT Flips”, each one featuring a WWE Superstar tied to the ‘Hell in a Cell’ event. The event will be livestreamed on June 5 on NBCUniversal’s Peacock.
The NFT Flips will be available on WWE Moonsault in “Cases” of three, randomized at minting. It will be minted for $30 per Case, thus, the sale could bring about upwards of $100,000.
In the days following the Hell in a Cell event, each NFT Flip will reveal itself as a 10 to 20 second video highlight of the covered WWE star.
The intention of introducing NFTs is that WWE’s wild fanbase will invest in the NFTs craze.
Last year, WWE and Fox announced their NFT partnership and launched Moonsault on May 27 during “SmackDown” on Fox. The launch was promoted across all the WWE channels including its Discord and also on Fox media platforms.
As a part of its launch the first 10,000 fans who created a wallet on the platform won free Moonsault Genesis NFT. Interestingly, the Genesis NFTs were claimed within only a few hours. As of this writing those NFTs had an active listing value of $1.43 million on the Moonsault platform.
WWE is also planning to release more limited-edition packs of NFT Flips in future. It is also thinking of releasing other video highlights and digital collectibles focused on WWE Superstars and iconic moments from the company’s history, scheduled to record exclusive live events throughout the year.
One can create a digital media wallet through Eluvio to take part in the WWE NFT marketplace that allows collectors to buy NFTs via credit cards or cryptocurrencies, and trade them too. Eluvio is the blockchain-infrastructure provider in which Fox is an investor.
In March, WWE partnered with Fanatics to include e-commerce and licensed merchandise, as well as physical, digital, and NFTs trading cards.
