The popular cloud software platform Salesforce announces the launch of NFT Cloud marketplace to make NFT selling more accessible.
According to the announcement, Salesforce NFT Cloud is now a limited-access pilot product, but it will be made available to all clients in October.
NFT Cloud is marketed as a simple entry point into the world of NFTs and the nascent metaverse, allowing firms to leverage Salesforce’s cloud-based tools to produce and sell NFTs, community engagement, and much more.
As per Adam Caplan, senior vice president of emerging technology, NFT Cloud is meant for consumer brands who want to sell NFTs for providing exclusive perks, such as access to a private event.
Caplan added “It’s really about utility. And what we mean by utility is as an NFT holder, I receive certain benefits. It could be something in a digital world, or it could be something in the physical world.”
In the NFT marketplace customers are looking for engagement from NFT buyers rather than appreciating the actual art, says Caplan. “The art should look great. But that’s not really the point,” he notes.
Salesforce expects that NFT Cloud will address issues that plague platforms like phishing attacks and insider trading.
Salesforce customers can list their NFTs on their own websites, with Salesforce managing back-end security, smart contract development, and authentication.
To allay staff fears that the new marketplace would go against Salesforce’s sustainability goals, Caplan stated that clients will utilize more ecologically friendly blockchains and purchase carbon offsets.
Currently retail, media, fashion and consumer goods, etc, are all expressing interest in NFT Cloud, according to Salesforce.
