Twitter co-founder and Block CEO Jack Dorsey is partnering with artist ‘Jay-Z’ to launch The Bitcoin Academy, a financial education program. The program will be held at Marcy Houses, the public housing complex in Brooklyn, New York where Jay-Z grew up.
The program is designed in collaboration with Crypto Blockchain Plug and Black Bitcoin Billionaires.
The initiative is an attempt to offer financial education with a special focus on Bitcoin as a mission towards ‘financial freedom’.
The program is providing free personal and online classes by Lamar Wilson, who runs content site Black Bitcoin Billionaire, and Najah J. Roberts, founder and CEO of event and education space Crypto Blockchain Plug.
The program will be conducted twice per week in late June till September. The program members will be given smartphones, MiFi devices and a one-year data plan.
There will be another weekend program “Crypto Kids Camp” which will be held on two Saturdays for Marcy kids and teens aged 5-17.
Dorsey and Jay-Z are longtime collaborators and Bitcoin evangelists. Both of them had together invested 500 BTC last year to boost cryptocurrency’s popularity in India and Africa.
Well, as its mission goes, Education is indeed power!
