The world’s premier mixed martial arts organization, UFC, chooses VeChain blockchain foundation as its official layer-1 blockchain partner.
According to the announcement, this collaboration is supposed to be a “first-of-its-kind long-term partnership that breaks marketing ground for both brands.”
VeChain’s VeChainThor blockchain is currently gaining traction in a variety of sectors, including sustainability, carbon management, supply chain & logistics, medical, energy, and others.
The deal gives VeChain access to key UFC assets like live events, broadcast features, in-arena promotion, content released through UFC’s social platforms, etc, via this partnership.
The collaboration is ready to kick start at the UFC event in Singapore on June 11th. This is also the first numbered UFC Pay-Per-View event to take place in Southeast Asia.
VeChain will own UFC’s official fighter rankings titleship, the “UFC Rankings Powered by VeChain.” VeChain will gain high visibility across live broadcasts of UFC’s events with this integration.
VeChain will have a branded presence inside the Octagon at all 42 UFC events per year as well as Dana White’s 10-event Contender Series. VeChain’s logo will be shown at UFC events in the Octagon.
The VeChain logo will also be visible on the fighters’ attire, and in the content distributed throughout the UFC’s social media accounts and digital channels reaching nearly 200M people worldwide.
UFC would also give VeChain exclusive access to Performance Institute and APEX, and they plan to establish VIP sweepstakes campaigns for followers to attend UFC’s biggest events.
The deal also offers an annual Brand Ambassador fund which will provide major paid marketing opportunities to the participating UFC athletes.
This groundbreaking partnership will offer VeChain a reach within an estimated 900 million TV households in 175 countries that receive UFC’s broadcasts.
Sunny Lu, co-Founder and CEO of VeChain, stated “It is a historical moment when VeChain, the Layer 1 public Blockchain with the most enterprise adoption, joins forces with the fastest growing sport to raise awareness that blockchain technology is critical in helping deliver major global objectives, such as sustainability. This is just the beginning of a multi-year relationship with UFC, and we really look forward to changing the world together.”
This is not the first time UFC got involved with a Web3 platform. In April, Crypto.com and UFC announced the creation of new Bitcoin Fight Night bonuses for UFC athletes. 3 bitcoin bonuses would be awarded to the top 3 fighters on each UFC Pay-Per-View as a part of this deal.
