A Brazilian teenager got scammed by a fake NFT influencer named Mineeervas for 0.14 ETH. The teenager tweeted the entire incident to warn people.
According to the thread, the 17 year old met Mineeervas through a Brazilian Telegram group. Mineeervas came across as a knowledgeable and legit NFT collector.
Mineeervas claimed to own Azuki, CloneX, Moonbirds, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Lands with Kodas, Invisible Friends, and Doodles.
Seeking guidance, the victim started texting and talking to Mineeervas. He shared his knowledge of the market with the victim and also said he was friends with the most popular personalities in the NFT community including Farokh, Deeze, and Punkie.
The victim also posted screenshots of conversations between Mineeervas and these people, which he later found out were fake.
Mineeervas then sold the victim an alpha pass for 0.14 ETH for a project allegedly driven by Murat Pak and promoted by Punkie.
The victim soon realized it was all a scam and that the pass was for a fake project. He tried to contact the famed NFT personalities such as Deeze, that Mineeervas claimed to be friends with and found out that they never even knew him.
The victim also mentions that two of his other friends have been scammed for 0.8 ETH each by the same person but with a different script. The common element of the scammer is that he tries to sell a fake alpha pass in each scenario.
The rising popularity of the NFT and Web3 industry has also led to an increase in scams and thefts. Every NFT enthusiast should be extremely careful and do their due diligence before dipping their toes in this industry.
