Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platform will roll out several metaverse plans in Hong Kong schools and cafes as it tries to test some virtual experiences.
On Tuesday, Meta said that it will work with local cafe chains, schools and art institutions to offer “first-hand” metaverse experiences for the city residents and also to explore the capability of metaverse in daily life.
The metaverse initiative including virtual reality (VR) exhibitions at local cafes and open augmented reality (AR) training workshops for school students will be introduced by Meta. The firm will also partner with artists from Hong Kong and share their NFT projects on Instagram.
Meta will introduce pop-up metaverse experiences with local illustrator Dustykid and lifestyle concept space Preface Coffee & Wine from 17 to 29 June 2022.
Meanwhile, residents of the city can visit the DustyLand exhibition at Central Market to experience the metaverse using the Meta Quest 2 VR headset, and be the first to use AR filters co-created by Dustykid and youths.
Participants who manage to complete required tasks will win a set of Dustykid x Meta #BringGoodnessToTheMetaverse exclusive stickers and AR postcards.
