Purchasing an airline ticket with Bitcoin appears to be a possibility now. Customers of the International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) Spanish carrier Vueling will be able to book air tickets using crypto payments. It is being forwarded with the help of UATP and BitPay.
Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP), the global payment network for the airline industry, will assist in the infrastructure development required to accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment.
Vueling will become the first low-cost airline in Europe to accept bitcoin as payment.
Jesús Monzó, manager of distribution strategy and alliances at Vueling said, “With this agreement, Vueling once again reaffirms its position as a digital airline.”
BitPay, a crypto payment service provider, will provide Vueling customers with the ability to conduct cryptocurrency transactions with the highest level of security and reliability.
This service is expected to be available beginning in 2023. Customers will be able to pay for their flight using over 100 wallets and 13 different cryptocurrencies, including BTC, BCH, DOGE, ETH, LTC, SHIB, and WBTC.

The announcement also stated that paying with cryptocurrencies is a push transaction, which means the user sends the exact amount rather than withdrawing it as with traditional credit or debit cards, eliminating transaction fraud and phishing.
